We missed out on a special cameo that would’ve been remembered for many years.

Prince is one of the most iconic figures in the music world. His contributions have earned him numerous awards, including seven Grammys, an Academy Award for an awesome song score in Purple Rain, and a Golden Globe Award. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Prince's untimely death left a palpable void. However, his legacy lives on through his music, influencing artists across genres and generations. Surprisingly, Prince could have made a cameo in a Marvel TV show. The TV show in question is Luke Cage, which aired for two seasons on Netflix.

For those who've watched Luke Cage, you might remember Pop's swear jar. It wasn't just a quirky detail. Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker had a grand plan behind it. He revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he hoped to use the swear jar as a bait to lure Prince onto the show.

Coker's idea was to show Prince the first two episodes and then persuade him to make a guest appearance in the season finale.

Prince, being a devout Jehovah's Witness, wasn't a fan of swearing. He even had his own swear jar at his Paisley Park residence, charging anyone who dared to curse in his presence.

Coker's vision was grand. He wanted Prince to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through Luke Cage (even though it’s now unclear if Luke Cage is part of the MCU ). But what would Prince's role have been?

Would he have performed at Cottonmouth's Harlem Paradise? Or perhaps shared some wisdom with Luke Cage? The possibilities were endless. Sadly, Prince's untimely passing in April 2016 meant that this dream would remain unfulfilled.

While Prince's cameo in Luke Cage remains a "what could've been," his legacy continues to shine brightly. The mere idea of having such a legendary figure in a Marvel show speaks volumes about his impact and the love people had for him.

Even in his absence, Prince continues to inspire and leave a mark in the most unexpected places.
