Lena Dunham Returns with New Netflix Rom-Com 'Too Much' Starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe

Star-studded cast and London love.
Lena Dunham is back with her latest project. She has unveiled the trailer for her upcoming Netflix rom-com series, Too Much, set to premiere on July 10. The show stars Megan Stalter as Jessica, a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, and Will Sharpe as Felix, a charming musician. The series follows Jessica’s move to London after a painful breakup in New York, seeking solitude and a fresh start — like a modern-day Bronte sister.
In the preview, viewers see Jessica arrive in London, initially overwhelmed by her noisy neighbors fighting in her apartment, feeling like she’s “in hell.” However, she quickly becomes enchanted by Felix. The trailer depicts their growing connection: Jessica exploring picturesque neighborhoods, excitedly posing in front of a blue door and describing London as “like out of a movie,” while Felix humorously warns her that it’s more like a horror film filled with “pent-up rage and dark secrets.” As their relationship develops, Jessica reveals her heartbreak — her ex-boyfriend is now with another woman — setting the stage for dark flirtation. Felix jokes about murder, prompting Jessica’s playful response about sewing heads back on.
Netflix teases that Jessica’s move to London is driven by her desire to escape her past and find herself again after losing everything in New York. The show explores whether Americans and Brits truly speak the same language amid their romantic entanglements with “red flags” flying high. Created by Lena Dunham — who co-wrote and directed Too Much — the series is semi-autobiographical, inspired by her own experiences living in the UK with husband Luis Felber. Dunham serves as writer-director and executive producer alongside Michael P. Cohen and others from Working Title and Universal Studios.
The cast includes notable names like Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Watts, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Adwoa Aboah, plus guest stars such as Andrew Scott, Jennifer Saunders, Kit Harington, Rita Ora, and Jessica Alba. Too Much promises a witty exploration of love across borders for those disillusioned but hopeful about finding true connection.
