His trust issues are no longer an obstacle for big things coming his way.

NCIS ’ season 22 is probably CBS’s most anticipated arrival ever since the franchise’s latest installment that left so many things unclear about Jessica Knight and her future at the MCRT.

Let’s be honest though, Jessica’s storyline risks losing one of her biggest achievements anyway, whether it's her new position she’s always dreamed of or her relationships with Jimmy Palmer, which is also a major sacrifice for the series’ entire run.

Instead, I’m much more curious about how things will turn out for Nick Torres and whether all those bright perspectives are indeed coming for him in the upcoming season.

Nick Torres’ Character Development in NCIS Is Something Else

Introduced in NCIS’ season 14, Nick Torres has come a long way to finally resolve all the issues that impeded him to be comfortable even at his workplace. Though nobody caused him any big trouble, the character still had a hard time adjusting since his insecurities and personal problems made him emotionally unavailable for his colleagues and thus created some kind of miscommunication between him and the rest of the team.

Season 19 sees Nick finally admitting he has to face his problems and attending therapy sessions which eventually reveal his current condition’s connection to a childhood trauma mostly influenced by Nick’s bad relationship with his father.

Once the character realized he had no reason to have doubts about absolutely everyone around him, he finally started forming bonds with his teammates, becoming an integral part of the MCRT.

What’s even more intriguing about how season 22 will handle Nick’s story is that the character was seemingly at the start of a new chapter in his life, slowly proceeding to becoming good friends with his boss Alden Parker and developing romantic feelings for Special Agent-in-Charge of the NCIS: Hawaiʻi Field Office Jane Tennant.

The latest installment featured an unexpected interaction between Nick and Alden when the former became the latter’s temporary roommate for the time of Nick’s apartment being inspected for mold.

In the meantime, the show also left the whole mystery of Nick and Jane’s beginning romance unresolved, which is a great reason to make it up to Nick’s past sufferings and give Jane Tennant a proper storyline development since her own big mystery was never addressed either when NCIS: Hawai’i suddenly got canceled.

NCIS’ season 22 will arrive on CBS this fall.
