Jenna Ortega’s character spent several episodes in Wednesday season 2 trying to find someone who, well, doesn’t really exist. Here's who, or rather what, LOIS turned out to be, and what it means for the show's future.

Another big mystery became a bit clearer in Wednesday’s season 2 part 1, though the eponymous character is still on the run to uncover it entirely.

In the brand new sophomore season of Tim Burton’s horror-ish show for Netflix, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday doesn’t really care about the new year at Nevermore Academy as she’s haunted by disturbing visions that prompt her to start her own investigation (again).

At some point, all the roads lead to LOIS, which Wednesday mistakenly thinks is someone’s name. However, LOIS is the abbreviation of Long-term Outcast Integration Study, a secret program that experiments with outcasts and aims to transport their powers into normsies.

As Wednesday keeps looking for more mentions of a Lois (or rather LOIS), she discovers a closed door with the name put on it while visiting Tyler at the Willow Hill.

With Uncle Fester’s help, she gets in and figures that all this time LOIS meant the hospital’s asylum where all the outcasts attached to the secret program were incarcerated.

Just when Wednesday releases all the outcasts and possibly finds her aunt Ophelia among them, Tyler aka the Hyde is also set free, which allows him to attack both his master Marilyn Thornhill and Wednesday.

In the episode’s final sequence, the latter is thrown out of the Willow Hill’s window and appears to be dead.

‘Wednesday’ Fans Think We Might Have Already Met Aunt Ophelia Before

As the show’s fans keep speculating about how things will turn out in the second season’s part 2, some consider all the options for introducing Morticia’s estranged sister — including a possibility of her being one of Nevermore Academy’s teachers.

As user apzlsoxk explained in a Reddit thread, Steve Buscemi’s Principal Dort might have a connection to Slurp or actually be his doppelgänger that killed the original genius, and somehow this also links to Ophelia.

“My running theory is that he's being controlled by Ms Capri who's actually Ophelia in disguise, and her goal is just to get Morticia and her mom to reconnect. Something tells me that it's a red herring and she's not really connected to the murders or anything”, they wrote.

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s season 2 part 2 hits Netflix on September 3.
