The upcoming season 2 of the show reignited the controversy over Disney's use of AI art when it was spotted in one of the posters.

After the horribly bland disappointment that was the MCU 's Secret Invasion TV series, the upcoming season 2 of Loki seems to be a breath of fresh air with its colorful visuals and intriguing concepts teased in the promo materials.

However, it appears that the new season of the show will continue a controversial practice started by Secret Invasion, as signs of AI-generated art have been spotted in one of the posters for Loki season 2.

According to author and illustrator Katria Raden, a new poster for the show uses an AI-generated image as a background, and she even provided a link to the original stock image (via X, formerly Twitter).

A few months ago, Disney found itself in the middle of a controversy when it was discovered that they had used AI-generated art in the opening credits of Secret Invasion.

The images weren't to everyone's liking and sparked considerable outrage from fans and artists alike, who accused the company of being greedy and cutting costs by using AI instead of hiring real human artists.

Now, unsurprisingly, the Loki poster has reignited the controversy, though this time the use of AI art isn't as blatant as before, as the image is placed in the background.

Disappointed fans wonder if this means that the show's creators are resort to AI in other aspects, such as writing, and express their distrust for those who repeatedly use such practices, some even going so far as to call for a boycott of the show for this reason.

The outrage is completely understandable, as the issue of using artificial intelligence is now more sensitive than ever, considering that it was one of the reasons for the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Apparently, Disney didn't get the memo, or else the decision to use AI in the midst of the ongoing crisis would seem, if not morally questionable, incredibly stupid at the very least.

The first episode of Loki season 2 will premiere on October 5, 2023.
