It's not just about the modest box office performance now, but also about some industry drama.

Dwayne Johnson has found himself in hot water as reports emerge claiming that his team deliberately leaked "ultimates" finance sheet to Deadline to persuade everyone that Black Adam is a commercial success.

A new report by Puck News has suggested that Warner Bros. executives now believe that Johnson was trying to manipulate them by leaking the financial documents to Deadline and make it look like his movie, Black Adam, was making money; while in fact, the Rock's antihero is not as successful as Johnson would like him to be.

Puck News report estimated that Johnson-hailed Deadline report was "filled with false assumptions", from only $100 million in worldwide marketing to questionable home entertainment numbers amid audience rejection and short windows.

DCU Behind the Scenes Drama Continues With Dwayne Johnson's Social Media Move

Now as the story is making waves on social media, fans believe that the chances of Black Adam securing a sequel are even lower than they already were.

"Black Adam is finished", many fans have concluded, now that "even WB doesn't have his [the Rock's] back". However, it's not like the movie's misfortunes are to be blamed exclusively on Johnson.

"Let's be real, if it ain't a movie with Batman involved or Harley Quinn, the chances of any newer DC movies succeeding is slim to none. It's not even about whether it was a great movie or not, it's about the people not being interested in anything non batman related," Twitter user NoxDMartinez argued.

Black Adam's chances for getting a sequel were already low after The Hollywood Reporter that the second movie is "unlikely" amid yet another looming shake-up in the DCU.

However, even though the hype around Black Adam seemed real at first, many people are now ready to blast the Rock and his attempts to change the DC hierarchy.

"I have no sympathy. It's not like The Rock's work was marred by others around him. He himself delivered an expectedly horrible performance," Twitter user userhero29 said.

Black Adam grossed some $166mln domestically, and additional $222mln internationally, making its box office a modest $389mln.
