Is it even DCU if it doesn't have major shake-ups every now and then?

Looks like DC universe is heading into a massive reboot as new heads James Gunn and Peter Safran proceed to U-turn on almost every signature DC project as they move forward their vision for the studio.

The big change was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. While the turning point has not been officially confirmed by Warner Bros. yet, we offer you a quick look into what is happening at DC universe.

Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot may no longer return to screens as Wonder Woman as Patty Jenkins' threequel is now considered "dead" in its current incarnation, according to the report. After Jenkins submitted her treatment, studio heads told her that Wonder Woman 3 does not quite fall in line with Warner Bros. new "but still unfolding" plans.

The timing is painfully ironic, as just two days ago Gadot posted a tweet that appeared to tease her character's bright future.

"A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I've been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I'm grateful for YOU.The fans. Can't wait to share her next chapter with you," the actress tweeted.

The tweet did not age well.

Black Adam

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to Black Adam is "unlikely" even amid the hype for the new movie. This is due to the film's modest box office figures: so far, Black Adam has only grossed $385 million worldwide, and insiders tell the outlet that the movie will be lucky to break even, let alone make a profit.

It calls Dwayne Johnson's ambitious plans to "change the hierarchy of power in DCU" into question, especially with reports from pop culture insiders such as DanielPRK and Ember that Henry Cavill is already out at DC just weeks after being welcomed back. The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned that Man of Steel 2 will be shut down.

Aquaman

Jason Momoa's aquatic superhero is also reportedly set to bid adieu, but this does not necessarily mean the end of the DCU journey for the actor himself. According to the report, he might be recast as Lobo — an intergalactic bounty hunter.

Out of the water and into open space, Momoa might lead a totally different DC franchise, portraying an outcast and an anti-hero.

Generally, it looks like Gunn and Safran have cut all ties with the previous DC slates and visions, paving the way to something radically new and different. Among the projects that reportedly remain untouched are Batman, Blue Beetle, and Shazam, and many fans already predict they might be the first movies to kickstart a completely new DC universe.

As of now, it looks like there is a messy transition period ahead for Warner Bros. — and fans have to get ready to weather yet another storm.
