Here are the answers to some of Lost's most intriguing secrets.

In 2004, the Golden Globe Award-winning series Lost was released. The show tells the story of the surviving passengers of flight 815. The plane travels from Sydney to Los Angeles and crashes on a tropical island.

The show won the hearts of the audience with an excellent cast and a lot of mystery. The fans were kept on the edge of their seats until the very end.

1. Why were there polar bears on the Island?

The characters have repeatedly encountered polar bears on the island, and Sawyer even killed one. The presence of these wild animals on a tropical island seems completely illogical.

As it turns out, the bears were brought to the island as part of the Dharma Initiative. Scientists tried to modify their genes to adapt them to tropical living conditions. Later, not all of them were destroyed – some survived and settled on the island.

2. How did John Locke recover?

Fans remember that after the crash, Locke got rid of the wheelchair. But how did that happen?

It turned out, that The Island cures diseases that were contracted before the crash. That is why John was able to walk again, and Rose got rid of her cancer. Wounds and illnesses contracted on the island were not affected by this magic.

3. Why did pregnant women die?

The series revisits the theme of pregnancy again and again, starting with Claire. Juliet, the Others' doctor, takes care of women who get pregnant on the Island. According to the plot, all women who were pregnant before coming to the island can give birth to a healthy child. But if the conception happened on the Island, the woman dies in the third trimester.

The mystery is not completely solved. Pregnant women were probably more affected by electromagnetic energy than anyone else.

4. What was The Smoke Monster?

The Monster of the Island is the most mystical creature in the series. It killed the inhabitants of the island brutally and quickly. The secret was revealed in season 6 – The Black Smoke was Jacob's brother.

At the age of 13, the boy left his mother and went to another part of the island to live with the other people. However, his relatives did not leave him alone.

His mother killed everyone he lived with for a long time, and he killed her in return. After that, Jacob pushed his brother into the Heart of the Island, where he became a monster and lost his physical body. From that point on, his goal was to find Jacob and kill him.
