Love Village: who is still together? One season 1 couple got as far as wedding photos
None of the season 1 couples has married. One got engaged, picked out a Harry Winston ring and released wedding photos, and is now just friends. The couple that's still together never got engaged at all.
Love Village (Ai no Sato in Japan) is Netflix's dating series for singles aged 35 to 60, who move into an old house, fix it up and live together while looking for, in the show's framing, one last love. Season 1 streamed in May 2023 over 18 episodes, ending on May 30. On September 10, 2025, Netflix hosted a livestreamed reunion on YouTube where most of the season 1 cast updated viewers in person, and much of what's known now comes from that broadcast.
The season 1 couples
Four couples left the village together. Here's where each one stands:
- Junpei and Okayo — the season's first couple and the only one still together. Junpei, who ran an interior design business in Shizuoka, and Okayo, a convenience-store clerk from Osaka, started out long distance between Shizuoka and Tokyo. At the 2025 reunion, they said they now both live near each other. Junpei celebrated Okayo's birthday on Instagram in November 2025, and in July 2026 the two marked the anniversary of the day they met. No engagement has been announced.
- Totchan and Sakechan — Totchan, a therapist and single mother, rang the bell for Sakechan in episode 12 and he accepted. Japanese coverage reports the two split in 2023, a few months after the season aired.
- Tabo and Yukorin — together for about two years after the show. They confirmed the breakup at the 2025 reunion, and Japanese outlets have pointed to schedules that never lined up: late nights in his restaurant work against her early mornings as a yoga instructor.
- Naka-san and Mina-nee — the season's oldest couple, both 60.
That last pair is the one people remember, and their story didn't follow the show's script.
The couple who got closest to the altar
Naka-san, a landlord, and Mina-nee, a picture-book author, were the center of what the show treated as a grown-up love triangle with a 41-year-old anime producer known as Numappy. In the finale, Naka-san asked Mina-nee to be his partner for life, and she turned him down.
After filming ended, they met again, and the relationship started off-camera. In June 2023, on a YouTube follow-up episode for the season's couples, they announced their engagement. Naka-san had given her a Harry Winston ring, and the two released a set of wedding photos.
At the September 2025 reunion, Mina-nee told viewers that they were now friends. The engagement had been called off, with no public account of a specific falling-out.
A finale rejection, an off-camera engagement, a professional wedding shoot and a friendly breakup. It's the most complete love story the show has produced, and it played out almost entirely after the cameras left.
What about season 2?
Season 2, set in Okinawa and released in November 2024, also produced four couples. The best-known, Tamifull and Makio, fell apart publicly while the season was still streaming. The other three, Akipon and Chii, Nino and Captain, and Tana-san and Pachi Yumi, have not publicly confirmed whether they're still together.
Season 3 premiered on October 6, 2026, at a new village at the foot of Mount Fuji, with 23 episodes rolling out every Tuesday through November 3. Three seasons in, Love Village is still waiting for its first wedding.
