Does Rocketman star have it in him to bring fresh take on classic character?

It's hard to believe, but it's true: the actor who brought Elton John to life on the big screen looks just as good with a cigar and stubble as he does in sequins and heels. And it seems that fans of the X-Men have taken notice, as rumors have been swirling that Rocketman star Taron Egerton could be the next actor to take on the iconic role of Wolverine.

As you may know, the role of Wolverine has been vacant since Hugh Jackman hung up his claws. Despite Jackman agreeing to revisit the now-iconic role once again in Deadpool 3, it's unlikely the actor will join the MCU on a permanent basis. Much more likely, Wolverine is going to be recast, and it seems that Egerton is the top choice for the role, with even comic book author Mark Millar endorsing the actor for the part.

But the speculation doesn't stop there. An artist named subi.ozil has even gone so far as to create a piece of fan art that shows us exactly what Egerton would look like as Wolverine. In the image, the actor looks every bit the part of the clawed mutant, dressed in a comics-accurate suit and sporting a thick stubble. He even bears a resemblance to a young Russell Crowe, who was almost cast as Logan in the first X-Men film.

Egerton himself has even hinted at his desire to play the role, admitting during one of his Comic Con appearances that he's always been a fan of the X-Men movies and would love to be a part of them. So will we see Egerton as Wolverine in the near future? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, he certainly looks the part.
