Paramount's new gangster drama with Tom Hardy has been fun, but fans feel like it's starting to get sillier with every new episode. What's wrong with MobLand?

MobLand's eighth episode, titled "Helter Skelter", continues to spice things up for the two warring crime families in the UK, the Harrigans and the Stevensons. Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza is slowly turning into a Jason Borne-esque figure, the heads of the families keep raising the stakes, and the fans? The fans are starting to feel that something is off.

The following text contains spoilers for MobLand season 1 episode 8!

The episode is full of many heated moments, but the most intense one comes right at the end, when Ritchie Stevenson straight up shoots two cops, Fisk and Mukasa, after they approach him to make a deal. The idea wasn't theirs; it was a newcomer, former Deputy Chief Inspector Colin Tattersall of Scotland Yard, portrayed by Toby Jones, who suggested asking Richie for help.

However, when Fisk and Mukasa make a mistake of saying that "they own" Richie, and not vice versa, it (for some reason) doesn't sit well with the Stevenson leader. He kills both and then exits the room to meet Tattersall himself, who assures him that he, Richie, "owns" the police, "as always."

"Just gunning down two detectives? Like the whole of Scotland Yard isnt going to come after Richie after that? Nobody will notice they’re missing? This show has got so silly," said Redditor BinkyLopBunny in a post.

'MobLand' Fans Can't Stand 2 More Characters

This isn't the only problem fans are having with the show. Maeve Harrigan, the wife of Conrad, is slowly turning into a Disney villain (seriously, we won't be too surprised to hear her evil laugh at some point).

"I mean the show jumped the shark the minute Maeve began double crossing her own family for seemingly no reason. Is she all the sudden mentally ill? How did they make it this far if she has always been a double crossing lunatic behind the scenes?" Redditor wendall99 argued.

Jan, Harry's wife, also doesn't seem like a believable character, because are we honestly supposed to be okay with the fact that a mob fixer wife randomly makes friends with a stranger, tells her everything about her broken family, and even leaves the Cotswolds mansion to see her when there is literally a mafia war going on?

However, some fans believe that Jan's character still has a chance to shine — if it turns out that she was the one playing Alice all along.

"I guess I'm the only one who thinks she's totally in on the fact that her new friend is police? I straight up think they're both playing each other and Jan will come out on top. Because that police officer is hella exposed right now," suggested Redditor Heavenfall.

Currently, however, it seems that the two remaining episodes of MobLand will have to outdo themselves to make fans believe again.
