My Favorite Horror Movie Is a 8-Year-Old Hidden Gem With 100% on RT No One Talks About

Eight years ago, a horror movie was released whose creator was not destined to see the final result. The Evil Within is a unique work, and here's why you should watch it.
In the world of horror, which is filled with familiar franchises and their revivals, a real treasure can sometimes be found. These movies are not loud or promoted, but they have such unique stories that they are impossible to forget.
For me, such a film was the little-known The Evil Inside by Andrew Getty – a gem that amazes with its plot, ideas, and the tragic fate of its creator.
What Is 'The Evil Within' About?
Following the death of their parents, John becomes the sole guardian of his younger brother, Dennis, who is mentally unstable. They live in a large house, and one day, John places a large antique mirror in Dennis's room.
Left to his own devices, Dennis begins to communicate with his reflection, which turns out to be a smart and powerful creature with evil intentions.
It Took 13 Years to Make 'The Evil Within', and Its Creator Didn't Live to See It Finished
The story behind the making of The Evil Within is truly horrifying. Andrew Getty, the grandson of billionaire J. Paul Getty, devoted 13 years of his life, his personal fortune, and ultimately his life to the project.
He shot the movie in his mansion, investing in expensive sets and complex special effects in an attempt to perfect every frame. However, the process dragged on for years due to Getty's drug addiction.
Getty died of internal bleeding before seeing the finished film, which was completed by his friends.
'The Evil Within' Is an Embodiment of Madness And Psychological Pain
The Evil Within is more than just a movie – it's an embodiment of the director's inner demons. The plot is based on his nightmares, which were so bizarre that even Andrew believed they weren't generated by his brain, but that someone else put them in there.
He didn't try to speculate on viewers' fears, he poured what had tormented his tortured psyche for years onto the screen. The result is not just another horror film, but a raw, unfiltered, and truly arthouse exploration of madness.
Getty did not care how "decent" or "comfortable" a scene appeared – he filmed how he felt, disregarding censorship and age ratings.
