Netflix Forked Out $20M For Erotic Thriller That Both Bridgerton and Succession Fans Will Love
Fans, get ready for what may be the best crossover to hit Netflix this fall.
Netflix recently acquired the rights to the erotic thriller Fair Play for a whopping $20 million. Such a price tag may seem too high at first glance, but upon closer inspection, you can see why the streaming platform made a bet on this movie.
The movie is directed by Chloe Domont, one of the creators of Suits and Billions – both projects revolve around the world of big money and power, which can also be seen in Fair Play.
According to some fans, the movie's trailer gives vibes of Succession, one of Max's hits that recently ended, and no successor to the series is in sight yet.
Succession showed that the power struggle plot, especially when the participants in that struggle are related by blood or marriage, is a fairly successful formula that attracts millions of viewers.
Another strong side of the project is its cast. In particular, fans were delighted with the participation in the movie of Phoebe Dynevor, the main star of the first season of the mega-popular Netflix series Bridgerton.
After watching the trailer, it can be said that in the new project the actress will appear from a completely new side, as a serious and dramatic actress. Dynevor hasn't had many roles since Bridgerton and fans are excited to finally see her in an interesting project.
Phoebe's partner is Alden Ehrenreich, known to most fans for his role in Oppenheimer, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and a role in the TV series Brave New World, based on the novel by Aldous Huxley.
