The highly anticipated series is landing on the streamer’s platform this week.

Despite frequently being accused of preferring quantity to quality, Netflix has plenty of original movies and shows that stunned both critics and viewers, with the Knives Out franchise being one of those.

So far having two movies released, the planned trilogy written, produced and directed by Rian Johnson is getting things ready for a third movie’s release, with Daniel Craig returning to his role of quirky detective Benoit Blanc.

However, it might take a while before the next instalment arrives on Netflix, reportedly, this fall, but the streamer has numerous options for you to fill the void with; one of them is getting its long-awaited premiere this week.

The Residence Has All Chances to Become Netflix’s Next Big Hit

Starring Megalopolis’ actor Giancarlo Esposito among others, The Residence is a new mystery drama show, the first season of which will arrive on Netflix on March 20.

Based on Kate Andersen Brower’s bestselling book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House, the future series will follow Uzo Aduba ’s Cordelia Cupp, an eccentric detective and a consultant for the Metropolitan Police Department embarking on her own investigation of a mysterious murder that happened during a state dinner in the White House.

To find out the truth, Cupp will have to go through 132 rooms and 157 suspects whose interpersonal conflicts quickly start showing as soon as the chaos unfolds.

Knives Out Might Still Have Future After Wake Up Dead Man’s Release This Year

Now scheduled to be released on Netflix in the second half of 2025, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has been long considered the last instalment in Johnson’s mystery drama franchise that was initially planned as a trilogy.

However, multiple rumours suggested there was no certainty in the writer-director’s plan, considering how much success the first two movies garnered in previous years.

Released in theatres and on Netflix back in 2019, Knives Out was a massive hit, grossing more than $300 million with the initial budget of $40 million.

The movie’s sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, skipped theatrical release, but ultimately became one of the most watched movies on Netflix in 2022, garnering 210 million hours viewed in the first 10 days since the digital premiere.
