New Adult Animated Series From BoJack Horseman Creator Hits Netflix This Summer

The date for the new animated show from the BoJack Horseman team is officially set, and it's coming sooner than you think. Stay tuned for more details.
Fans of one of the most acclaimed adult animated series, BoJack Horseman, can rest easy knowing that another show from its creator is coming. Raphael Bob-Waksberg's Long Story Short will hit Netflix on August 22. After the success of his previous adult animated projects, the new series has viewers excited.
The latest news about the show is that the voice cast is now ready to work. Led by Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Angelique Cabral and Nicole Byer, Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz have been tapped to play recurring guest stars in the new series. No word yet on who exactly will be voicing each character.
What Is Long Story Short About?
The series was first announced by Netflix in August 2024. It centers on the Schwooper family, chronicling the siblings' journey from childhood to adulthood as they navigate the ups and downs of life.
From family dinners to road trips and more, the show will once again blend humor and drama as the family faces the challenges of everyday life. Created and written by Bob-Waksberg, the series features original artwork by his BoJack Horseman partner and Tuca & Bertie creator Lisa Hanawalt, who also serves as supervising producer.
Long Story Short Already Feels Special for BoJack Horseman Fans
The fact that the new adult animated series comes from Bob-Waksberg means everything to fans of BoJack Horseman. The sitcom premiered in 2014 and lasted for 6 seasons. And it's safe to say that for many people, it became one of the most conflicted, complex, yet dramatic shows of all time.
The characters in this series are all multi-layered, and it's not easy to tell who you love and who you hate at first. BoJack himself is a rare case where the main character is not a hero, but an anti-hero that you do not want to root for at many points. You see his many laws and how he constantly betrays his close ones, and the fact that it is all wrapped up in a bright animation just adds another layer of complexity.
However, Bob-Waksberg also created a series called Undone, which is an even more complicated animated drama that also received universal critical acclaim. So now the fans of both shows are ready to swallow anything new the beloved creator offers them
“After Bojack and Undone, I'm all in for another show from the same creator. And the plot sounds very intriguing. Can't wait to see what he does with it,” Redditor Donuteater111 said.
