There’s still much of Westeros to see, and we’re setting off on an adventure!

Summary:

  • A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is the second Game of Thrones spin-off that’s in active development at HBO.
  • Recently, Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell were revealed as the new Dunk and Egg actors and lead stars of the upcoming series.
  • While most fans are happy to get another sequel, some call Dunk & Egg “another Targaryen cash grab” and demand other stories to be adapted.

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros hold many mysteries to this day, and we haven’t seen half of what it has to offer in Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Thankfully, we’re not stuck with the Targaryens anymore: soon, a brand new journey will take us across the Kingdoms in the pleasant (and pretty notorious) company of Dunk and Egg, the hedge knight and his squire.

Dunk & Egg Spin-Off Cast Its Lead Stars

Amid the new prequel’s active development, its lead stars were recently revealed. According to Variety, Bad Sisters’ Peter Claffey has been cast as Ser Duncan the Tall aka Dunk, and his little squire Aegon V Targaryen aka Egg will be portrayed by The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ Dexter Sol Ansell.

Other characters have either not been cast yet or are not ready for the grand reveal yet. However, we know that Martin and Ira Parker will serve as writers and executive producers for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, assisted by their colleagues some of whom worked on the original Game of Thrones TV show.

Fans Are Divided on New GoT Spin-Offs

Game of Thrones, as well as the original book series A Song of Ice and Fire, has a large fan base. You’d think they would be happy to get more George Martin live-action adaptations, but not everyone is hyped about the much-anticipated Dunk & Egg TV show; a decent part of the audience isn’t content with the announcement.

Some Game of Thrones fans consider A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight “another Targaryen cash grab.” Indeed, there are several stories most of the audience would have rather watched — like Robert’s Rebellion — but after the original show’s finale and the backlash it caused, it’s easy to see just why HBO doesn’t want to experiment beyond George Martin’s written source material.

And hey, we don’t know about you, but we’ll take whatever chance we get to see more of the Seven Kingdoms. It’s going to be worth it no matter what exact story a show follows.
