You gotta take what's yours.

No sooner had Griselda ended her reign on Netflix than The Gentlemen came along to take her place as a drug lord drama; then Andrew Scott 's Ripley arrived to paint that global chart in black and white.

But they're not the only ones; in fact, while we debate just how different Ripley is from Moriarty and what place The Gentlemen TV show has in Guy Ritchie 's cinematic universe, another gangster drama has quietly occupied #3 on Netflix's global top.

We're talking about Crooks - a Netflix "one last heist" drama about a safecracker who teams up with a gangster over a mysterious priceless coin that has rival European gangs ready to tear each other apart.

The said safecracker, Charly, also has a family to protect from these very rival gangs; after all, he was trying to get away from it all and live a quiet life in Berlin. Famous last words.

The series premiered on April 4, and six days were enough for it to already gain over 20 million hours viewed. However, the reviews are pretty mixed.

Is Crooks Worth Watching?

While some critics love the chemistry between Charly and his unlikely ally, driver Joseph, and praise the series for a thrilling blend of action and drama, others are not so impressed.

Some accuse Crooks of having "bland, forgettable, and mostly unlikable characters," arguing that the plot itself doesn't really help. However, many feel that the show has a charm of its own, drawing comparisons to iconic shows like 4 Blocks or the Italian drama Gomorrah. Though Crooks is definitely not as dark as the latter.

Among the stars are Frederick Lau, Christoph F. Krutzler, and Svenja Jung as well as the others. If you have already watched 4 Blocks, Lau is a familiar face: he portrayed Vince Kerner in the show. In Crooks, he is the spotlight as Charly.

If you feel like you're ready to continue your crime drama journey, then join the Crooks party on Netflix. All episodes are already available for you to binge.
