Is Kang the Conqueror still set to be the main villain?

Disney Plus’ Loki is considered to be one of the most successful TV shows within the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

Given that, the show’s season 2 is one of the most anticipated Marvel projects of this year. The synopsis suggests that the second season will pick up right after the crazy season 1 finale.

According to The Direct, Disney Plus confirmed the cast for Loki season 2, consisting of both returning and new actors.

Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki himself. Other returning cast members include Sophia di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer, Neil Ellice as Hunter D-90, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, and Eugene Cordero as Casey.

Actress Liz Carr (known for her roles in The Witcher and Silent Witness) is joining the cast of Loki Season 2. We don't know much about her character yet or how many episodes she'll appear in, but we can't wait to see her on the show.

Surprisingly, Jonathan Majors is still on the cast list as well. Despite Majors’ ongoing legal problem, his character appeared in the post-credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and it seems like Marvel couldn’t just write him off.

Majors will portray Victor Timely, one of the many Kang the Conqueror’s variants. Timely is expected to play the role of the antagonist at some point of Loki season 2.

Kang the Conqueror has been planned as the primary antagonist for Marvel's Phase 5 and Phase 6.

However, Jonathan Majors’ future in the MCU is uncertain due to his ongoing court case for domestic abuse. According to the latest reports, Major's lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, claims that the allegations are false and there is evidence to support this, including eyewitness interviews.

We’ll have to wait for the court’s decision on the case to know for sure if Marvel changes their plans with Kang. The trial is set to start on August 3.

Loki season 2 is scheduled for October 6, 2023, on Disney Plus.
