The Middle-earth lore is expanding as The Rings of Power is gaining more fan following than ever, but Miranda Otto has no plans to join the cast.

Miranda Otto's Eowyn has been a fan favorite for more than 20 years. From the moment she first set foot on our screens in the second The Lord of the Rings installment, Eowyn has captured the hearts of fans all over the world.

No wonder people still want more of her. Luckily for everyone, fans are about to get their wish granted.

The actress is reprising her iconic role in The War of the Rohirrim, an upcoming animated fantasy film, and she will be narrating the story of the legendary Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan.

The movie is set 183 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, so it makes perfect sense that Otto will be telling the story as the future shieldmaiden of Rohan.

While fans are overjoyed at Eowyn's animated comeback, they shouldn't get their hopes up that Miranda will return to a live-action The Lord of the Rings movie or show anytime soon. She doesn't see that happening at all, in fact.

In a recent interview for Express.co.uk, the star crashed our hearts by saying that she doesn't see a way for Eowyn to appear in the hit series because she is "mortal" and "can only really live within the timeframe of The Lord of the Rings books."

Otto is definitely sticking to Tolkien's canon. The prequel series follows Galadriel and Elrond, but it takes place thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings.

Seeing as Eowyn can't live as long as those characters, she can't "pop up in other places" just like that.

Miranda went on to say that she loved her Middle-earth experience and that "it would be lovely to revisit it," but she doesn't currently have an idea of how it can be done appropriately.

The actress added that animation makes things easier because it offers more ways to bring a character back (even as a narrator).

While Eowyn won't be making a surprise visit to Galadriel's doorstep in The Rings of Power, we shouldn't lose all hope.

Miranda Otto is still interested in this cinematic universe, so it's only a matter of time before a suitable project comes along.
