"No Offense": Fans Applaud This 'Percy Jackson' Character Casting For a Weird Reason

Have you ever been told you're ugly and resentful, but like, in a nice, affectionate way?

'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' has recently added five new people to its cast, announcing actors for the role of centaur Chiron (Glynn Terman), teacher Mrs. Dodds (Megan Mullally), god Dionysis (Jason Mantzoukas), Percy's mother Sally Jackson (Virginia Kull), and her icky boyfriend Gabe Ugliano (Timm Sharp).

The latter has received a particularly warm welcome, with fans praising him as a perfect cast for the role of someone who is actually one of the most hated characters in the series – a bizarre compliment, if you think about it.

Gabe Ugliano is described in Rick Riordan's books as a less-than-pleasant guy who is smelly, irritable, and, as you might have concluded from his surname, ugly. This is why fans are adding "no offense" before noting how perfect Timm Sharp appears to be for the role.

Unwilling to hurt Sharp, fans have already indicated that the majority of them are well-aware that the actor and the character are not the same.

People seem to be ready to hate him. In a good way.

Generally, the cast for 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' TV series has received a lot of accolades, particularly for being a lot more book-accurate than the cast for the Percy Jackson movies – even though some people took issue with Leah Sava Jeffries stepping away from the book canon.

The show is currently in production, set to premiere at some point in 2023. The exact release date has not been scheduled yet.
