Reservoir Dogs’ creator has caused numerous rumours about leaving Hollywood in the recent years, but Tarantino is about to come back soon — not with his own movie though.

Despite not boasting of many directorial works, Quentin Tarantino is considered one of the most prolific directors of our time, not only directing but also writing for movies and sometimes even starring in them.

Tarantino’s fans, however, have been long concerned about the director’s weird fixation on the idea to make only ten movies and then forget about his Hollywood life, with a long hiatus, started in 2019, leading to a thought that Tarantino might have in fact retired.

Though the tenth movie is still in progress, Tarantino’s fans will get to see his comeback sometime next year — with a movie Tarantino is starring in.

Both Tarantino and the rest of the movie’s team have kept details under wraps for quite a long time, as multiple sources recently revealed that the independent drama titled Only What We Carry had already been filmed and is currently in the post-production.

Apart from Tarantino, the film stars Simon Pegg, Sofia Boutella and Charlotte Gainsbourg; there’s not much to say about the plot yet, but Tarantino will portray John Percy, an old friend of Pegg’s character Julian Johns whose former student suddenly faces ghosts of her past.

As several outlets highlighted, Tarantino was the first to receive the offer from Director Jamie Adams, with the latter being convinced that the former would be perfect for the role.

Only What We Carry is expected to be released sometime next year.

Did Quentin Tarantino Really Retire From Directing?

No, Tarantino has never said anything about a potential retirement, at least until he finishes his tenth movie we currently know nothing about.

Last year, the director scrapped The Movie Critic, a drama film he was developing as his final one, later revealing that he realised no one would have wanted to watch a film about a movie critic anyway.

Earlier this year Tarantino gave another update on his long-suffering project, stating that he’s currently working on a stage play and might eventually turn it into a movie once it proves to be successful at London’s West End.

So far, however, no one except for Tarantino himself can say for sure what the stage is going to be about, but the director’s fans will surely check it out when the performances are set up sometime in 2026.
