Just three years after leaving the MCU, the Black Widow star reportedly gets a lead role offer from another multi-billion-dollar movie franchise where Chris Pratt resides.

Summary:

  • After 11 years in the MCU, Scarlett Johansson left it with the 2021’s Black Widow standalone movie.
  • According to an insider, the actress was recently offered the lead role in the upcoming Jurassic World 4.
  • The new movie is supposed to begin a “new era” of the $6B franchise after Chris Pratt ’s trilogy.

Much like many other now-popular Hollywood actors, Scarlett Johansson was once launched into international stardom by Marvel Studios.

In 2010, Johansson made her first appearance as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and spent the next nine years portraying the Russian assassin until her last in Black Widow’s postmortem titular movie in 2021.

Scarlett Johansson was then seemingly done with franchises and set off to star in standalone movies; but now, as reports suggest, she might return to the big game.

Much like with other former MCU stars, Scarlett Johansson’s career after quitting the Avengers team was interesting to watch; franchises this huge tend to trap their actors within their characters’ worlds. But Johansson didn’t disappoint her fans — and after several well-received independent movies, she may return to a franchise.

But this time, she’ll be dealing with dinosaurs instead of superheroes.

According to The InSneider’s Jeff Sneider, Scarlett Johansson was recently offered the lead role in the upcoming Jurassic World movie that’s set to “start a new era” in this long-running $6B franchise’s story after Chris Pratt’s films. It was revealed that Godzilla ’s Gareth Edwards will direct the new Jurassic World installment.

Jurassic World Needs a New Era after All This Time

The Jurassic World movies were built upon the success of the original Jurassic Park franchise, aiming to deepen its world and explore the ever so fresh thrill of watching tiny humans run away from huge dinosaurs further. But despite being moderately well-received, Jurassic World never lived up to its predecessor’s legacy.

That’s likely why the fourth Jurassic World installment is aimed to specifically be the relaunch or the new era of the franchise: it’s been needing a breath of fresh air for a while now. Scarlett Johansson could helm it beautifully, or sink with it — depending on whether the creators will try a new approach or deem the protagonist’s gender switch justification enough for the “new era” label.
