No, not the one with the after-hell tears.

Supernatural may be as cringeworthy as it is, but Jensen Ackles and his acting skills could always suddenly raise the bar very high for the show.

There are many instances of Ackles showcasing his immense acting skills in Supernatural (even though his character Dean usually has one facial expression, especially in the later seasons). But this time, we're going to talk about a particular one, which we think is just gut-punching.

We're talking about season 12 episode 11, titled Regarding Dean, where the older Winchester brother encounters a spell that has his memory slowly failing him.

The scene where Dean is trying to regain his memories talking to himself in the mirror and still forgetting is just heartbreaking to watch. We don't know about you, but this man deserved an Emmy for this performance.

The entire episode hit close to home for fans whose loved ones suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's. But Ackles' spiraling terror and helplessness in this particular scene will break your heart even if you're lucky enough to never have encountered the disease.

Somehow, Regarding Dean manages to be one of Supernatural's most tragic and hilarious episodes at the same time... even though this can be said about pretty much any episode of the show.

What started off as a simple inability to remember anything from past night turns out to be a curse, and Dean is only fixed when the witch who put the spell is killed.

The episode is ranked 8.9 on IMDb, which makes it one of Supernatural's highest-rated episodes. The CW hit concluded after 15 seasons, with the finale airing on November 19, 2020.
