Orlando Bloom Says There’s Only One “Way to Win” With ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ New Movie

Will Turner’s actor might be on the map for Pirates of The Caribbean’s next chapter, but it seems like the franchise’s main figure isn’t that eager to come back to the role.
Hollywood keeps living in the era of reboots and remakes, which is the reason why the talks about another sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean haven’t really quietened down since Dead Men Tell No Tales’ release back in 2017.
While initially there was no mention of Johnny Depp’s possible return after he was sort of cancelled in Hollywood, now the actor’s involvement seems like a vital option and probably the movie’s only chance to survive in the box office.
However, Orlando Bloom’s suggestions for the next chapter might be even harder to follow.
Orlando Bloom Says the Only Option For ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ Is to “Get Everybody Back”
The actor, who portrayed Will Turner throughout four instalments of the franchise, has recently addressed the rumours about another movie’s development, saying that the formula of success lies in the franchise going back to its roots.
“Everything is on the page, and I think there's definitely, I'm sure there's a way to create something. I would personally love to see everybody back. I think the way to win on that one is to get everybody back. If they can, and if everybody wanted to go back”, Bloom said during his appearance at the 2025 Fan Expo Chicago last week (shared by Entertainment Weekly).
However, the actor specified that so far he has no idea about whether the creators are planning something completely different or if Keira Knightley would be down for reprising her role.
“What they're thinking...is how to do it. Do you bring in a female leading character that replicates Jack in some way? I don't know. The jury is out on how to do it again”, Bloom revealed, adding that he would be there too if the script was good.
Johnny Depp Is Unlikely to Return to ‘Pirates Of the Caribbean’ Anyway
Now that the actor is slowly going back into the acting world after a scandalous trial with ex-wife Amber Heard several years ago, Disney’s producers aren’t turned against Depp that much — especially since Pirates of The Caribbean’s future success does in fact depend on the actor directly.
“If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it. It's all about what's on the page, as we all know”, the franchise’s longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer has recently revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Still, Disney’s hopes for a reunion with Depp seems more like wishful thinking, considering that the studio was quick to cut the ties with the actor after allegations against him started pouring in in 2018.
“There was a deep and distinct sense of feeling betrayed by the people that I've worked hard for. People that I delivered a character to that they initially despised, but I stuck to my guns with the character, and it seemed to work”, Depp said about the matter during the defamation trial back in 2022.
