Tyreese should have survived for much longer, fans say.

In The Walking Dead, the story often took unexpected turns, leaving fans with mixed feelings, especially when it came to the characters’ deaths. Remember Sasha and Tyreese? The death of one of these siblings hit especially hard.

Tyreese and Sasha made their debut together in The Walking Dead during season 3 and quickly became part of the core group. While both of the siblings died, Sasha survived till the very end of season 7, while Tyreese met his end early — in the show’s season 5, episode 9.

The demise of Tyreese Williams hit hard, as fans saw him as one of the most valuable members of the group due to his robust moral compass and ability to kick some serious butt when needed. His sister Sasha, though a sharpshooter, didn't resonate as much with the fandom.

Tyreese’s fate was sealed when he was bitten by a walker as he explored a house. The sudden and shocking demise of such a cherished character seemed unjustified and unnecessary for many fans. Some viewers, or should we say the majority of them, agree that Tyreese was killed off too early.

On the other hand, Sasha’s death, while heroic, didn’t stir nearly as much emotion among the fans. Her character arc, though impactful, didn’t resonate with the fandom in the same way Tyreese’s did. Some people even felt downright fed up with Sasha’s crazy behavior during her last seasons.

Tyreese’s death left a big void, especially given that he died only one episode after another big death on the show — Beth’s. However, many fans feel that the random nature of deaths in The Walking Dead is actually what kept us on the edge of our seats all this time.

When asked about his character’s death in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chad L. Coleman, the actor who portrayed Tyreese, explained the reason behind this death.

“The Walking Dead needs an impactful death to remind us of the value of human life,” the actor simply said.

And it’s true, while this death was a really sad experience for us fans, it reflected the brutal reality of the apocalyptic world. Still, Tyreese's honorable nature made him a character worth keeping around longer.

Do you think Tyreese was killed off too early?
