Jamie's actor has regained his public voice after the strike, but news about Season 7 Part 2 is still too scarce.

Summary

  • With the SAG-AFTRA strike over, the cast can finally get busy promoting their shows, and that includes Outlander.
  • Sam Heughan posted a new update just in time for the fans who are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the final episodes of Season 7.
  • However, there is no substantial information, and we still have to wait for the official announcement.

The first part of Outlander Season 7 ended in August, and since then we've entered another disappointing period of Droughtlander. The situation only got worse as new episodes were released in the midst of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which prevented both cast and crew from discussing details of the show, and the fate of production for the second part of Season 7 was in complete limbo as a number of the cast and crew are members of the unions in America.

Now that both strikes are officially over, the cast can finally reveal some information. Everyone's favorite Sam Heughan has done just that, only his new Instagram post has fans even more confused.

How Season 7 Part 1 Ended

After the Second Battle of Saratoga, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian set out for Scotland in November 1777 to give a proper burial to their relative, Simon Fraser, who fought on the British side.

At the same time, equally terrifying events are happening to Bree and

Roger MacKenzie in the 1980s. Their son, Jemmy, has been kidnapped by Brianna's co-worker, who has time traveled to find hidden gold. Roger and Buck embark on a journey through time, not knowing if they can catch up with the kidnapper.

'When we come back, we will see that things have changed and surprises await. It’s a very bittersweet time. Jamie and Claire are never safe. Trouble finds the Frasers, and the back half [of the season] is insane. Once again, their worst fears are realized. Something happens that could tear them apart. I don't know if Jamie and Claire can recover from it,' executive producer Maril Davis teased.

In other words, we have all the more reason to be pumped for the second half of Season 7.

Fans Are Not Impressed with Sam Heughan's Update

Which brings us back to Sam Heughan: With the easing of restrictions following SAG-AFTRA's dispute with the AMPTP, the actor began sharing very enticing Outlander-related posts on his personal Instagram account.

On November 9, for example, he published a post expressing his joy at being able to work and promote Outlander again with the end of the strike.

Then, on November 14, he posted about Outlander again. With the actor now able to share details more freely, many fans hoped that he would reveal the start of production or even hint at a release window. However, the new post was captioned, 'Did you catch the mid-season finale? Took Jamie's breath away'. In other words, it was once again the first half of Season 7.

'When Jamie finally sees Scotland it’s a huge moment for him, for the family. They've returned! It's his home, he's a Highlander through and through and to see the mountains there and to know he'll be home at Lallybroch is such a huge moment and a beautiful way to end the first half of this season,' says Heughan himself in the released clip. While this isn't new stuff, it definitely sets the tone for what's to come.

When Can We Expect New Episodes?

The second half of Season 7 was originally scheduled for release in early 2024, but the news came before the Hollywood double-dipping debacle, so we'll just have to wait for the official announcement of the release date.

However, we can be sure that production on Season 8 is already in full swing, which means that we will see the announcement of the final episodes of Season 7 quite soon, especially considering all the teasing from Sam Heughan!
