The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has captivated audiences since the first installment was released in 2003.

The main favorite of the fans was the extraordinary and charismatic Jack Sparrow (Captain Jack Sparrow), who, according to the director himself, was initially supposed to be a secondary character.

If the first parts of the franchise were good blockbusters with an interesting plot, then after the fourth movie, the whole project was supported by a large credit of trust and love for Johnny Depp 's character.

However, when the actor faced the infamous legal drama with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Disney made the decision to fire him and strip the Pirates of the Caribbean icon of the role.

After the successful conclusion of the trial for Depp, the Pirates franchise producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, said that he would be happy to see the actor in his former role, calling him "an utter friend."

Fans, however, wish he could have stepped forward to support Depp a little sooner.

"Where was that energy before they got rid of him," Twitter user lottie_depphead commented.

However, fans' dreams of the return of the legendary character will most likely not come true.

First of all, the actor himself stated that he is not eager to return to playing Captain Jack Sparrow and would like to focus on other projects.

Secondly, Disney's attitude towards Johnny Depp back at the time of his feud with Heard does not help the situation.

"Jerry Bruckheimer & Disney need to issue an official apology to Johnny Depp for the way they treated him without any evidence. They threw him out after capitalising on a character that he created without a second thought. All on AH's [Amber Heard] word. He deserved better," Twitter user kawaiifoxita said.

However, the studio doesn't stop trying to give the franchise and the Pirates a breath of fresh air. For years, there have been rumors that Johnny Depp could be replaced by Margot Robbie in the new spin-off.

Recently, Disney announced that the priority was to continue the original franchise and roll out the sixth film.

Now, fans are baffled by the concept of the alleged new movie, as Johnny Depp is, to put it mildly, reluctant to reprise the role again.
