Reacher Fans, Let Roscoe Go: Even Book Author Confirms She Won’t Return

Ever since season 1, Reacher viewers have been in love with Roscoe Conklin, portrayed by Willa Fitzgerald — she and Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher had great chemistry, and their love story was compelling to watch. However, Roscoe has been absent in Reacher for two seasons now — and it’s almost certain she’s not coming back for Season 4.

The author of the Jack Reacher book series, Lee Child, cut all hopes for Roscoe’s comeback in an interview with Forbes: he believes that Reacher’s love interests just have to rotate.

“I get [...] that you fell in love with her. I do that with every book. There is a different woman in every book and I'm hopelessly in love with them and I'm bitterly disappointed when the book finishes and I have to leave them. That’s how it works, though,” the author said.

With the TV adaptation pretty much following the lead of the books on the issue of Reacher’s personal life, it’s pretty hard to still hope for Roscoe making a comeback in Season 4, which has been announced in October 2024 and has no scheduled release date as of now.

What Does Willa Fitzgerald Think of Roscoe’s Return to Reacher?

The actress, however, isn’t opposed to the idea of her character returning to Reacher. In a separate interview with Forbes, she cautiously mentioned that she had no idea of the showrunners' plans to bring her back, but made sure to indicate that she was on board with the possibility.

“I don’t have any insider knowledge about whether there will be more Roscoe or not,” Fitzgerald said. “I’m as much in the dark as anyone else, but I love playing that character and I loved getting the chance to help initiate the Reacher television universe.”

What Do Reacher Fans Think on Roscoe’s Comeback?

Two words: zero optimism. It looks like pretty much everyone has made peace with the idea that Jack Reacher always has to have someone new.

There’s an answer, though: many people in the fandom still believe Roscoe was the single best love interest for Reacher.
