From Sex and the City to The Office — here is the list of the brightest on-screen red flags.

When you are in a desperate need to feel love, something happens to your mind and your ability to use critical thinking becomes zero. And it's like an imaginary "skip" button appears in front of your eyes when you see a seemingly cool guy with not-so-cool behavior. Not ready to commit? Skip and wait longer. Doesn't give you flowers? Skip and ask yourself, "Do I really need them that much?" Well, you get the idea.

In reality, though, if we do manage to come to our senses after being blindsided for a while, that's not the way we judge TV boyfriends. Charmed by their ways, we usually think more of them than they usually are. And what "helps" is the lovable vibe the creators often put around them.

Even if the guy is definitely a red flag, the redemption story at the end of the series magically makes it all go away. So let's take a look at 5 TV guys who at first seemed like perfect boyfriends for our TV girls, but turned out to be red flags all along.

1. Mr. Big from Sex and the City

Probably the latest revelation that everyone seems to be talking about for the last few years. When we all first watched the show (it's actually the first 5 times for me), we were rooting for Carrie to be with Big and didn't care about his commitment or other issues, of which there were many. We managed to find a way to justify his behaviour, that’s how charming his smile was.

However, after taking off the rose-colored glasses and looking closer, we all realized that he was just a selfish man who often put his own needs above all else. His inability to communicate led to endless confusion and heartache. He may have been magnetic, but his emotional unavailability and lack of respect for Carrie made him far from ideal boyfriend material.

2. Ross Geller from Friends

Ross Geller may have been a lovable paleontologist, but when it came to relationships, he was a disaster. His on-again, off-again dynamic with Rachel was full of manipulation, jealousy, and emotional immaturity. He needed to be constantly reminded that he was loved, and he was so afraid of losing Rachel that he ended up pushing her away and sabotaging the whole relationship.

Well, it goes without saying that calling your fiancé by the other girl's name on your wedding day is the reddest of all flags…

3. Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl

This one seems obvious now, but for a brief moment we all thought that having a boyfriend like Chuck would be perfect. Especially for girls with the "savior" syndrome, because Chuck always needed to be saved from his dark shenanigans. His “I’m in love with you” moment with Blair might have been swoon-worthy, but their relationship was anything but healthy.

He is the perfect example of the deeply wounded guy who can only be redeemed by true love, and girls flock to such relationships like bees to flowers. Well, that's not the smartest idea, hope you get it now.

4. Harvey Specter from Suits

Harvey Specter is another example of someone who needs to be saved, but in a different way. He is smart, confident, wealthy, and extremely handsome. There seems to be nothing he can't get if he wants it. Sounds like the perfect man, right? But he has issues that need to be resolved or he will never be in a healthy relationship.

His emotionally closed nature, his tendency to use people for personal gain, and his ability to avoid commitment make him a red flag.

5. Jim Halpert from The Office

Don't be so surprised, there's an explanation. Jim is often seen as the lovable and relatable guy next door, but his relationship with Pam isn't as perfect as it seems.

While Jim's sense of humor and easygoing nature are charming, his emotional avoidance and tendency to put off important conversations raise red flags. His moments of jealousy and rather passive-aggressive behavior towards his coworkers also point to deeper issues that could undermine a real-life relationship.
