The Shining and Evil Dead are two widely celebrated horror films that have influenced pop culture and spawned numerous adaptations and sequels.

While they are set in different places and times, and have different plots and themes, some fans have noticed some eerie similarities between the characters and events of the two movies.

Another hot take from Reddit. User MrPresident2020 watched the iconic film with the blood elevator scene.

And this The Shining moment led them to an entertaining thought regarding Raimi's reimagining of Evil Dead, Evil Dead Rise.

So here is the proof.

The former caretaker of the ill-fated Overlook Hotel, Charles Grady, had gone insane and killed his family. And the author of the proposal immediately turns to the film heir of Sam Raimi 's classic.

In Evil Dead Rise, the Kandarian demon remains in place, even though its physical appearance is destroyed. The entity can then possess anyone again. So the Redditor thinks that Jack was inhabited by an infernal creature.

Another coincidence is that Torrance chops up his opponents indiscriminately, yet he haunts the family and takes out his terror on them.

Evil Dead Rise Ally also quickly massacres the residents of her floor, but torments her loved ones for a very long time.

Also, Jack seems to have superpowers in the hotel. But as soon as he left the building, the cold stopped his demonic essence and the character died.

In Evil Dead Rise, when Beth puts Ellie in the cold water, the infernal being leaves the girl immediately.

After describing all the coincidences, the author went on to outline the theory. There are three volumes of the Book of the Dead.

One was found in Ellie's apartment, another in Knowby's cabin in the Raimi movie... and one more in the Overlook Hotel.

Kandarian demons prefer to kill close friends and relatives of their victim souls. It is worth noting that former Overlook employee Charles Grady killed his family.

It seems to the author of the theory that he did this after finding the third volume of the Necronomicon.

And after the Grady's death, the demon had already inhabited the vulnerable Jack, who was an easy target. And without The Shining and the cold, Torrance's wife Wendy and son Danny would probably be dead.
