Supernatural ran for a massive 15 seasons, which is pretty epic by anyone's standards. But fans on Reddit have spoken up about one season in particular falling far short of their high expectations.

While it is probably normal for any television show to have its stronger and weaker seasons, the buzz from Redditors is that Season Ten of Supernatural was so bad, it bordered on ridiculous.

Supernatural Fans Were Robbed of a Touching Castiel & Crowley Deleted Scene in Season 9

It seems the main problem fans had with the tenth season was Sam Winchester. People have commented that he became far less likeable and relatable in season ten. Examples of this are cited in the dynamic of the two brothers.

It was felt that throughout preceding seasons, Sam would fall victim to various situations and Dean would be the one to react and resolve these problems. But then a shift occurred, in which Dean started to become the one enduring the hardships, and for some reason, he was also the one that was required to fix it, not Sam.

The Winchesters' Villain Reveal May Finally Prove Its Connection to Supernatural

More than one Redditor has posted that they feel the show could have happily continued beyond season ten even if Sam was removed completely. Fans have also spoken of losing connection with Sam, feeling he became irritating and speaking out against some of his arguments with Dean.

The mood on Reddit is very much a "Team Dean" situation, whereby Sam earns no sympathy, in fact, seems to garner the opposite.

One Redditor has blamed the writers for this, commenting that they feel the authors of the series were on Dean's side and this came across in several of the brother's scenes together.

Some have theorised that Sam's demonic powers were to blame. The theory here is that the writers were concerned with exploring these too deeply and having Sam reach a point of no return. So, instead, they opted to avoid the subject altogether and were left with not much else to work with for Sam.

Perhaps the real reason for the perceived change in Sam's appeal will never be known. But Redditors have come up with some interesting, if not harsh, ideas. But all is not bad news. There seems to be a universal agreement that Sam improves beyond season ten and the show once again redeems itself. So Redditors that slam this season do still have kind words for the rest of the series.
