Is there any way to save MCU after this?

Secret Invasion turned out to be even worse than anyone expected. Starting with a bump in the road in the form of hideous AI-generated opening credits, and continuing with the criminally tame storyline, the show failed to live up to anyone's expectations and ended up being a flop.

What's worse is that no one can pinpoint exactly what went wrong with the production. Secret Invasion still has everything a Marvel show should have: it's beautifully shot, packed with action, and the cast is full of very talented actors. However, the formula doesn't seem to work.

Although the show introduces many interesting concepts and events that would have looked great on screen and would have added more points to Secret Invasion, it leaves all the good stuff behind the scenes.

With an insane budget of $200 million, they could have included some footage from the Kree-Skrull War or the clean-up after the Battle of Earth. Instead of hearing and learning about Fury's rise to power, viewers would like to see at least a brief flashback of it. These details seem small, but they would have added a lot of meaning to the show.

It could be argued that the problem with the show is that the cast is full of celebrities, which takes away from the production, but according to the information available online, the payments didn't even reach half of the budget.

The highest-paid actors in the show, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders received $20 million and $4 million respectively. With Martin Freeman taking home $2.5 million, Don Cheadle $ 2 million, and everyone else in the cast taking home less than a million each, the numbers don't seem to take away too much.

Whatever the reason for such a failure, it has to be a good lesson for Marvel going forward. With Hollywood as competitive as ever, not even Disney can afford to repeat its mistakes.
