While Severance’s Ben Stiller is out there looking for ways to get new seasons more frequently, one of the show’s biggest stars would rather take things slowly.

Things have been pretty messy for Apple TV+’s biggest sci-fi hit Severance this year, despite viewership records and tens of Emmy nominations.

The show’s second season opened to a major anticipation caused by, well, a long wait of around three years, forcing many fans to look up the first instalment recap before the second one hit Apple TV+’s platform.

Since then, a lot has been said about Severance’s release trouble, with the series’ director/producer Ben Stiller promising again and again that the upcoming third season won’t take this long.

However, Severance’s lead Tramell Tillman sees the show as something that shouldn’t be rushed — even though he still felt nervous when the season turned out to be this late.

Tramell Tillman Says ‘Severance’ Team Wants to “Take Our Time” to “Find Our Groove”

Since Severance is far from being a lighthearted drama or a sitcom, it seems fair that the production team, and especially writers, needs some time to breathe out before penning a new complicated chapter of life at Lumon Industries.

To some, three years of wait might sound diabolical, but Seth Milchick’s actor Tramell Tillman says there are many more reasons for such a delay behind the official ones like the pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes.

“We’re a show that doesn’t rush. We want to take our time. This show needs that. I think the more we do it, we find our groove. We know who these characters are to a certain extent. We know how they move”, Tillman told Variety recently.

However, the actor couldn’t help feeling nauseous ahead of Severance’s season 2 release back in January — just because no one could quite predict how the audiences would react.

“I was a little nervous if the fans were going to come back. There’s no telling, and there’s so much quality programming out there. But I knew that we had to finish”, Tillman revealed, adding that he’s grateful to those fans who stayed for the series even after three years of waiting.

Adam Scott’s Recent Update on ‘Severance’ Filming Period Is Still Bad News

Despite Ben Stiller and some of his production team members admitting lately that no one wants to go with three more years before Severance’s next season drops, it seems like there’s still no way for the show to move forward significantly faster than that.

As another series lead Adam Scott has recently unveiled, it takes more than everyone expected to just film one season’s episodes, let alone pushing it all into post-production phase.

“It's long. Season 2, I think it was 186 days for the season. Which is a long time. I think one episode took like six weeks and then it’s averaged out because we shoot them three at a time, all mixed up together”, Scott said during his appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler hosted by Scott’s Parks and Recreation co-star.

So far, Severance’s season 3 is expected to arrive on Apple TV+ sometime in 2026 or 2027.
