Careful: you may end up feeling sorry for Helena.

Life is better when you have something to look forward to. And AppleTV+ made sure we have that something for several months ahead — Severance season 2 is in full swing.

The first episode of Severance season 2 landed on the platform last week and it’s already clear the new chapter was worth all the anticipation. The episode made some bombshell revelations, but it's clear there's so much more to discover.

When we first saw Adam Scott's Mark S. in the new episode, he jumped out of the elevator and started running through the hallways trying to find his team. But it's not until the second half of the episode that he finally sees them.

They came out of the elevator like he did, but of course it was Helly he was waiting to see the most. But something strange happened when he went to hug her after she arrived. She hesitated — and the fans noticed. In fact, this thing became one of the arguments for the theory that it's not Helly but Helena in the severed floor of Lumon Industries.

Fans felt she was uncomfortable with the hug, probably trying to deal with the Helly/Mark romance. But then episode 2 came out today, revealing Helly’s outie, Helena, recapping the events of the MDR uprising — including the kiss between Helly and Mark.

The way she reacted to that has fans drastically changing their minds about the character.

“The prevailing thought was she felt maybe grossed out about the Helly/Mark thing and had to get in character. But after watching E2, this might have been the first loving hug Helena has received in years and she was just in shock for a second, which is tragic as hell,” Redditor A_Confused_Cocoon said.

After we got a better look at Helena's life outside, it didn't take long to realize that she had no one around her who really cared about her. So getting a warm welcome was something she just wasn't used to. Hence her cringy response — even though it doesn’t rule out the possibility of Helly R. actually being Helena herself.

Severance seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on AppleTV+.
