Severance S2 Episode 8 Reveal Completely Changes These 4 Scenes

Harmony Cobel used to seem like a slightly odd woman, with her obsessive attachment to Mark and his relationship with Gemma – but the episode Sweet Vitriol turns everything Harmony has done on its head.
The eighth episode of Season 2 featured the second most shocking revelation after the first season finale, where we learned that Gemma and Ms. Casey are one and the same person.
We now know that the severance procedure was invented by none other than Harmony Cobel, but her achievement was appropriated by Jame Eagan.
Until the last episode, Harmony remained one of the most mysterious characters, but now each of her previously incomprehensible actions has taken on meaning, changing the perception of most scenes involving Harmony.
1. The Board Ignoring Harmony
Harmony held a rather high position as head of the severed floor in Lumon. However, she was no ordinary regional manager – the office in the town of Kier is obviously of special importance to the company with its experiments on Gemma and Mark.
However, it seems that the mysterious Board never appreciated Harmony's contribution to the company – not when she invented the severance procedure, not when she worked as a manager.
The revelation of Cobel's invention makes us reconsider the fact that management did not even feel the need to answer her – which was surely one of the last straws that turned the woman against Lumon.
2. “You've Overestimated Your Contributions and Underestimated Your Blessings”
We all love Helly, but Helena is another story. It turns out that Jame Eagan's daughter is not only hostile to the severed workers, whom she considers animals, but also to key figures in the Lumon story, such as Harmony.
Now that we know what Harmony has done, the phrase we heard from Helena in the third episode of season two – “You've overestimated your contributions and underestimated your blessings” – sounds blatantly disrespectful and dismissive.
Helena is deliberately trying to underestimate Cobel's contribution to the company's development, even though it was obviously Harmony who had a hand in its most important invention.
3. Harmony's Obsession with Mark and Gemma
Until the shocking revelation in Episode 8, Harmony's obsession with Mark and Gemma seemed like a strange attachment or delusional interest. But now it's clear that Cobel simply wanted a front-row seat to test her own brainchild.
To test the limits of severance, she stole a candle from Mark's house, and for the same purpose, under the guise of Mrs. Selvig, she invaded Mark's private life outside of Lumon.
Harmony's actions were not driven by emotional impulses – it was a calculated plan by a brilliant inventor who wanted to see her work in action.
4. “What Is, or Was, the Color of Your Mother's Eyes”
One of the first questions asked of newly severed workers to check if the procedure was successful is “What Is, or Was, the Color of Your Mother's Eyes?”
We now know that this question is not accidental. Harmony was prompted to create the severance procedure by the death of her mother, who most likely died from the ether emissions of the Lumon factories.
Severance became a tool for Harmony to cope with the tragedy, and her mother and her death are obviously one of the main motivations for everything Cobel has done.
