Sonic the Hedgehog 3 May Land on Digital Platforms Sooner Than You Think
The movie was a massive hit in theatres and will be arriving to streaming this week.
Ever since its worldwide release on December 20, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been making headlines and garnering more and more accolades, which already set up quite a bright future for the extremely successful franchise.
The third instalment that saw Keanu Reeves entering the story as Shadow the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey reprising his role of Ivo Robotnik made its own history by becoming the highest-grossing part of the already billion-worthy franchise.
Now that Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s cinema run is almost over, the film is about to be dropped on streaming platforms, and it may be happening sooner than you think.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is (Probably) Already Available for a Home Watch
According to When to Stream, which tracks all the upcoming digital releases, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is set to arrive on digital streaming on January 21, which means that you might find it out there right now.
However, the movie’s producing company Paramount Pictures so far hasn’t confirmed the news, thus it’s still able to change the streaming release date in case there’s a reason for it.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Was a Massive Box Office Hit — and It Might Have Already Set Up Next Movie’s Success
The film was released in theatres just several days before Disney ’s Mufasa: The Lion King hit the screens too, yet it still survived the fierce competition by earning more than $420 million dollars with the initial budget of $122 million.
In fact, Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s merits include not only the franchise’s overall success after garnering critics and viewers’ rave reviews, but also Jim Carrey’s potential return to the cinema after the actor hinted at a possibility of stepping back a couple of years ago.
Upon the movie’s release back in December, Carrey revealed that he’s actually down for coming back in the fourth film if the franchise’s creators come up with something truly special for his character. Considering how much of an impact Carrey’s name had on all the movies’ success, there’s no way Sonic the Hedgehog’s creators Pat Casey and Josh Miller will opt for excluding Robotnik once and for all.
