Sorkin’s 'Social Network Part II' Finds Its Stars — But This Sequel Tells a Very Different Story

This time, the spotlight shifts far beyond Zuckerberg’s story.
When news broke that Aaron Sorkin was returning to the world of The Social Network, I couldn’t help but lean in. A sequel to one of the most talked-about films of the 2010s — but this time, it’s not about how Facebook began. It’s about what Facebook became.
According to Deadline, Sorkin has set his sights on Mikey Madison (Anora) and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) to lead The Social Network Part II. While deals are still in motion, reports suggest he’s already made up his mind.
Don’t expect a return to campus life. Inspired by The Facebook Files, the film focuses on whistleblower Frances Haugen and the real-world fallout of Facebook’s internal practices. Jeremy Allen White is set to play Jeff Horwitz, the journalist who helped bring her revelations to light.
Whether Jesse Eisenberg will reprise his role as Zuckerberg is still unknown. As far as I remember, he was never too fond of being so closely associated with that character. This time, his character may not be the central figure, I guess.
If confirmed, this would be Madison’s first major studio project since her Oscar win for Anora. She’s also set to appear in A24’s upcoming The Masque of the Red Death, based on an Edgar Allan Poe story, in 2026.
Sorkin, who won an Oscar for writing the 2010 film, will take over directing duties himself — a departure from David Fincher’s meticulous visual style. His recent directorial credits include Molly’s Game and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
