It's finally time to summarize the best anime titles that came out last year.

Crunchyroll, an American media service owned by Sony, has announced the winners of the 2023 Anime Awards.

The high-profile premieres of the previous year took home the most awards, although no one could predict which one would get the most prestigious nomination.

According to the nomination list, the most attention was given to the likes of SPY x FAMILY (16 nominations in total), Ranking of Kings Season 2 (15 nominations), Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which received 13 nominations each, and the original A-1 studio anime Lycoris Recoil, that was nominated for seven awards.

Voting for the Anime Awards was open until January 25, and the event itself, with the announcement of the winners, was held in Tokyo on March 4.

To make a long story short, who got the awards? The top prize, Anime of the Year, went to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Although the anime, created in collaboration between CD Projekt, Netflix, and Studio Trigger (responsible for such prominent titles as Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia, Promare), did not win any other high-profile awards, it became a phenomenon last year, stimulating interest in Cyberpunk 2077, a game that didn't get off to a great start when released.

However, expectations were confirmed in the case of SPY x FAMILY, the last season of Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2, which won a total of 6 awards each.

SPY x FAMILY, everyone's favorite show about the happy yet mysterious Forger family, not only snatched the status of Best New Anime from Edgerunners, but also won the "Must Protect At All Costs" character award.

Kudos to little Anya Forger for being a fan-favorite detective!

Last year's favorite, Attack on Titan, won in less important categories this time. It did win Best Drama, though. In turn, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 became the Best Anime Film of the year.

Best Original Anime (based on the original screenplay) was awarded to Lycoris Rekoil. Ranking of Kings, however, despite a significant number of nominations, only received one award, for Best Voice Performance in French.

So, there you have it, folks. Not winning an award doesn't make the other nominees any less deserving: every title on the list deserves attention and love. All listed anime series and movies can be watched on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu.
