The series is full of references to King's work, from an evil clown to a glass dome covering the town.

An acclaimed master of horror and a modern literary classic, Stephen King is one of the most prolific and hard-working writers of all time. The number of excellent novels and short stories King has written is astounding.

We can't even begin to talk about the crisis of ideas in Hollywood while Stephen King is living and working right next to us. Every year there is a new King’s novel that will sooner or later be adapted.

Haven’s Source Material Was Inspired by Real-Life Mysterious Crime

The writer was clearly impressed by the Tamam Shud of the Somerton Man Case – probably the most mysterious murder in the entire history of Australia. This story became his inspiration for writing The Colorado Kid.

Based on King's The Colorado Kid, in which the death of the main character remains unsolved, the creators of the American-Canadian series Haven, Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, allowed themselves to be creative and made a town populated by King characters, and the fictional settlement called Haven itself appears in many of writer’s works.

In the town of Haven, very strange things suddenly begin to happen. Its inhabitants are endowed with supernatural powers. FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker arrives there and quickly encounters this inexplicable phenomenon.

She admits the existence of paranormal forces and later realizes that her appearance in Haven is not a coincidence.

Haven received five seasons, which ran from 2010 to 2015, and earned the love of the viewers – the audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 86%. King was personally responsible for the overall spirit of the project, thanks to which you can notice many hidden and obvious references to his books.

And in general, Haven is something more than just exploiting the ideas of the famous writer, but rather a tribute to the entirety of King's work.

In one episode, Haven is literally transformed into a Christmas toy – a glass ball that snows when shaken. A childhood dream of one of the townspeople comes true, and the town is covered with a transparent but impenetrable glass dome.

An escaped convict from Shawshank returns to Haven, frogs rain from the sky (as in the story Rainy Season), one of the characters is mortally afraid of an evil clown, and a little boy, trying to catch a paper boat floating down the drain, puts his hand behind the bars and a minute later screams in terror – these are all classic and recognizable King motifs.
