Contrary to the usual practice, the replacement of the original actress has caused only positive emotions among the fans.

Although Supernatural had a large cast of supporting characters, the demon Ruby became the undisputed fan favorite in the early seasons.

She played a major role in the series for two seasons – the third and fourth.

Everyone remembers that Ruby was originally a blonde played by Katie Cassidy. However, later Genevieve Padalecki took her place, which was explained by the fact that the demon decided to change the host body.

There are several reasons why Katie left the role even though she was loved by the fans. Most likely, the writers at the time simply did not know what to do with the character, how to develop it, or where to take it.

This resulted in the actress being fired for economic reasons. However, there is another version – presumably, Cassidy herself decided to move on to another project called Harper's Island and left Supernatural.

In any case, it seems that her departure did not cause dissatisfaction on either side, as she later starred in another CW's project Arrow, where she played Black Canary.

Genevieve Padalecki took her place, and even though the actress was the polar opposite of Katie, she was warmly welcomed by the fans.

She is also remembered for bringing the romance of her character and Sam Winchester from the screen to real life – Genevieve and Jared Padalecki married in 2010.

Ruby helped the Winchesters fight Lilith, but it was actually her cunning plan: to gain their trust so the brothers would help open Lucifer 's cage.

In the 14th century, during a plague, Ruby was a witch who sold her soul to a demon named Astaroth and went to Hell, where she became a demon herself.

Ruby, along with the rest of the demons, escaped from Hell when the Winchesters opened the gates.

Sam Winchester supported Ruby, but Dean did not trust her. His attitude towards Ruby changed when he found out that she helped and encouraged Sam after his death.

It was Ruby who helped Bobby disassemble and modify the Colt so that it would kill supernatural beings with any bullet.
