Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Uninspired’ New Thriller With 0% RT Is a Sudden Streaming Hit

It’s been several months since Armor hit the streaming platforms, but it’s getting all the attention only now — so why is a Stallone flop suddenly topping charts?
Movies with a low critical score aren’t a rare finding in the streamers’ global top charts, but there aren’t so many that dropped to record-breaking 0%.
That’s the case for Sylvester Stallone’s recent action thriller Armor that has been around since November of last year, but suddenly went out of the shadows several days ago.
The movie, panned by critics back in the day, is currently one of the most watched flicks in several countries with a couple of positive reviews calling out the critics for being “brain-dead” — here’s what this all is about.
Armor Is One of Top Movies in the UK and Ireland
Even though the film first dropped on Prime Video back in November, many got to discover it only now — which is the reason why it suddenly entered the streamer’s top charts in the UK and Ireland, now sitting at the third and first positions respectively, according to FlixPatrol.
It’s fair to say such an outcome is a lucky turnout for Armor that didn’t go further than 0% and 28% of positive reviews from critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes; on IMDb, the movie has a not less discouraging rating of 3.6/10.
Also starring Jason Patric, Armor follows James and his son Casey, two armoured truck drivers who unknowingly transport millions of dollars in gold disguised as a suspicious package.
An ambush carried out by a group of thieves makes them realise how much of a worth the delivery is and come up with a plan of how to outwit those who knew about the gold beforehand.
What Critics and Viewers Say About Armor
Considering a shocking and truly rare score of 0%, one might be able to guess what the critics are vocal about.
“Neither its staging nor its performances transcend the limitations of Adrian Speckert and Cory Todd Hughes’ script, leaving mediocre material unredeemed by any special thrills, style, or character detailing”, Variety’s Dennis Harvey wrote upon Armor’s release in November.
“Stallone reportedly shot his entire role in one day. The rest of the film feels shot in the second”, Movie Madness Podcast’s Erik Childress revealed sarcastically.
“After 30 mins I decided I can't waste any more of my life on this drivvle. Still longer than it must have taken to write the script. Initially I thought it might have promise but once the action scenes start it becomes instantly ridiculous”, Adam G commented on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, there are also some rare raving reviews clashing with critics’ unanimous opinion.
“More proof that critics are brain dead”, Will W wrote, giving the movie 5 stars, while Brian B agreed, saying that “the critics aren't reliable as they used to be”.
