Tarantino Outs Himself as ‘Twin Peaks’ Hater: Here's Why He Can't Stand This Horror Masterpiece

Quentin Tarantino was so disappointed by the Twin Peaks movie that he refused to watch Lynch's work unless he was proven wrong.
Quentin Tarantino is known for being unapologetically honest about movies. Yet sometimes his opinions come as a surprise even to his most devoted fans (just like in this case).
This time: Tarantino wasn't a fan of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, to put it mildly.
During his talk with LA Weekly, he revealed:
“After I saw Twin Peaks — Fire Walk With Me at Cannes, David Lynch has disappeared so far up his own ass that I have no desire to see another David Lynch movie until I hear something different.”
‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’: What Is It About?
For those who haven't dived into the Twin Peaks universe yet, Fire Walk with Me is actually a prequel to the iconic TV series. The movie follows the last seven days of Laura Palmer's life before her mysterious murder (the one that kicked off the whole TV show).
Changes were made: the film takes a way darker turn than the series, ditching most of the quirky small-town vibes for something way more disturbing. Lynch wasn't playing around. The movie went full psychological horror mode here.
‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’: Reception
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me has 65% from critics and 78% from the audience.
- On IMDb, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is rated 7.3/10.
Interesting: when it first came out, Fire Walk with Me got destroyed by critics (Tarantino clearly wasn't alone in his feelings). But over the years it has become a cult classic. Now many Lynch fans consider it one of his best works, and it's basically become required viewing for anyone deep into Twin Peaks.
“This is probably the saddest film I’ve ever seen. Sheryl Lee’s performance is absolutely gut-wrenching. She’s incredibly talented and I’m glad she got to show it in this movie,” Redditor dannemora_dream wrote.
‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’: Where to Watch?
