An auction might’ve worked out better.

It is undoubtedly sad to see the journey you have been a part of for 12 years come to an end. It's hard to imagine what a mixture of nostalgia, sadness, happiness, and mild relief the cast of a show as long-running and beloved as The Big Bang Theory felt when it was time for them to walk off the set.

Even if the show itself wasn't that emotional, the well-written characters never stopped evolving, and the beautiful friendship between them made the show very special. Not only for the viewers who could relate to the problems of the characters on screen, but also for the cast and crew.

Perhaps the only thing that would make parting from such a project at least a little easier would be to be able to take a physical piece of it home with you to accompany all the wonderful memories. And everyone did just that. However, some Big Bang Theory alums had to work harder than others to bring home their souvenirs.

Kaley Cuoco, who played Penny on the show, had to make sure no other cast or crew members got their hands on her prized possession. She wanted to take home a poster that hung on the door of her on-set apartment and recalled the hunt for it during the TCA Winter Press Tour:

“It’s something that I love so much and I’ve looked at it for 12 years. It’s always in my eyeline from where I sit in the living room set, so I’m glad I’m going to put it in my own living room so I’ll see it forever. A lot of people want a lot of things, so I’ve already marked that one. It looks super random and weird, but it’s overly special to me,” the actress explained.

Cuoco is not the first actress to take home something that belonged to the set's decor, rather than something more associated with her particular character. Jennifer Aniston, for example, decided to go big and took an entire neon coffee cup sign from the set of her breakout project, Friends.

No matter how many little things other cast and crew members managed to get for themselves after The Big Bang Theory ended, nothing will ever bring as much value and happiness as all the memories the group shared together. And we, the viewers, are just lucky enough to have caught so many of them on camera.

To satisfy your own nostalgic craving for the iconic sitcom, you can stream The Big Bang Theory on Netflix or MAX.
