'The Batman: Part II' — Robin Rumours and Reality in Reeves’ Gotham

Exploring whispers, denials, and hopes for Gotham’s sidekick.
Keeping an ear to the ground for Gotham news, I couldn’t ignore the latest talk about Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II. Word is, the sequel’s script might bring Robin — the Boy Wonder — into Robert Pattinson’s dark, grounded Gotham. For a world so steeped in noir, that would be quite a swing, wouldn’t it?
TheInSneider reports Robin’s inclusion as a "big swing" and "worth the wait." Production is expected in spring 2026, with release set for October 1, 2027. Reeves directs and co-writes with Mattson Tomlin; Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright will return.
Then came the twist — James Gunn denied the rumour, noting only a few people have read the script. So is this just misdirection, or will Robin truly sit this one out?
Meanwhile, Gunn’s DCU is developing its own Batman and Robin — The Brave and the Bold, directed by Andy Muschietti — separate from Reeves’ universe. So even if Robin skips this film, his big-screen comeback is coming.
For a project announced in 2022 and delayed more than once, the Robin question adds the kind of mystery Gotham thrives on. After all, with Batman, isn’t secrecy part of the game?
