Ted Lasso's Grossest Couple Could Actually Be a Thing, Fan Theory Claims
Fans are split on the idea of the two characters getting together.
With the third season of Ted Lasso, an American sports comedy-drama TV series created by Jason Sudeikis, premiering last week to very positive reviews from both critics and viewers, fans continue to theorize about their beloved characters.
Yet another such theory has recently surfaced on Reddit, and while it is quite controversial, there are still fans who believe that it could possibly come true.
It says that Keeley Jones, a model turned PR consultant for AFC Richmond, could end up being the one to pick up the pieces when the inevitable downfall of Nate Shelley, a coach for West Ham United F.C., happens.
The supposed reasons for Keely to see Nate as a suitable companion and to pair up with him are that Nate will actually get his victory and hurt Ted in a way that will make him unwilling to help Nate.
It also claims that Nate won't go back to Richmond and will end up somewhere as prestigious as West Ham, but not as a head coach.
The theory has its supporters, even if some do not agree with it 100%.
"I will quite literally die if that happens lmao. I think she could definitely be someone kind enough to help Nate out of his stupidity, but I don't think there's enough time to realistically create any chemistry between them for a romantic relationship. I'm team Roy and Keeley by the end of the season all the way," Reddit user AvatarDang said.
Others disagree, pointing out that his whole downfall was jealousy of Roy Kent, as Nate started acting a little like him, tried to get with his girlfriend, and even wore a similar suit to Roy's in his last game.
Not dealing with it aged him 15 years, and Keely is attracted to men who actually deal with their emotions. Some fans even say that if this theory turns out to be true, it will ruin the series for them.
As another Reddit user, Mirfain-Lasui, commented:
"After the way he force kissed her in s2 and then told a bunch of her co-workers about that kiss without caring if she would have preferred them not to know, if Nate and Keeley got together in s3 it would be the one thing that would make me hate the show.
Redemption arc for Nate I can accept, pairing him up with the woman who he treated so sh**tily despite her being nothing but lovely to him I would never forgive."
Ted Lasso season 3 episode 2 premieres on March 29, 2023.
