‘The Boys’ Creator Gets Emotional As Last Season 5 Is Now Done Filming: “That’s a Wrap”

Prime Video’s superhero hit show is coming to its end in 2026, but Eric Kripke is already bringing fans some sad vibes. Here’s what The Boys’ creator reflected on recently.
It might not be all over for The Boys yet, but the show has just received a major — and pretty disheartening — filming update.
First launched in 2019 by Supernatural’s creator Eric Kripke, The Boys has been quite a drama to be followed by millions of Prime Video’s subscribers, with the fifth season wrapping it all sometime in 2026.
Now that the last instalment’s filming is done and the cast and crew have already bid farewell to The Boys’ set, Kripke didn’t hold his emotions back, seemingly titling the series as the top achievement of his career.
Eric Kripke Shares Emotional Tribute to ‘The Boys’ Ahead of “the Grand Finale”
The show’s creator took to his social media on Tuesday, marking The Boys’ season 5 filming wrap with a touching message addressed to the show’s production team and leading cast during the last day on set, also highlighting that he will be “torn down soon”.
“It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude. We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them. To [‘The Boys’] family: thank you, I love you all. To the fans: thanks for watching, can’t wait for you to see the grand finale. That’s a wrap”, Kripke concluded in his Instagram post.
‘The Boys’ Season 5 Will Feature Long-Awaited ‘Supernatural’ Reunion
It’s not only about Kripke and The Boys’ actor Jensen Ackles who have already worked on Supernatural together years earlier; as the creator confirmed back in May, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will also join the cast for the superhero series’ last season.
Kripke revealed that Supernatural’s trio will be interacting with each other within the same storyline and their first meeting on set in years did feel like some kind of high school reunion full of bittersweet nostalgia.
“It was really heartwarming and nice to like immediately be brought back to these guys that I love and haven’t had them all together, at least in a professional capacity, in years and years. So it was really, really meaningful”, Kripke said in an interview with TVInsider back in May.
When Will ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Be Released?
The show’s last instalment doesn’t have a premiere date yet, though it’s expected that the fifth season will arrive on Prime Video sometime in 2026.
