If network executives got sentimental during the pitch, the final season of Stranger Things might be a true emotional rollercoaster for fans.

It would seem that the Stranger Things fandom might want to start mentally preparing for the final season right now, because the Duffer brothers have apparently made Netflix executives cry when they pitched it.

"We did get our executives to cry, which I felt was a good sign that these executives were crying," said Matt Duffer at the Hollywood event, cited by The Hollywood Reporter. "The only other times I've seen them cry were like budget meetings."

If even the Netflix execs started crying, then "we are in hell", fans noted. Currently, everything seems to be preparing the fandom for a truly emotional end of the Hawkins story. As season 5 is set to conclude the show, it can be the most dramatic thing fans have ever seen... or can it?

"I can't even be worried abt this considering they hyped s4 to be a "bloodbath" and the only people of note who died were Eddie (new character) & Brenner (hated character)," Twitter user crawlingfaster noted.

Others, however, are pretty confident that some major characters, like Will Byers or Steve Harrington, are most definitely doomed. After all, the showrunners might have been restraining before, but now that they have a finale to break fans' hearts with, there might be painful deaths, people assume.

Among fan favorites that may die in season 5 are not only Will and Steve. People are also concerned about Robin, as well as Max. The latter is perhaps facing the greatest threat, as she is already in a coma after being targeted by Vecna multiple times in season 4.

No matter what the Duffer brothers have in store for season 5, it will surely be a bombshell. However, it seems that the final chapter will not hit screens until 2024, as reports say that the filming will only begin in Atlanta in 2023.
