The English Countryside Classic: How to Make Pub-Style Stuffed Pork Rolls That Melt in Your Mouth
A completely new taste offered by the same ingredients you’re used to having every day.
Busy with work and house chores, we often opt for the well-known comfort food and tend to forget that there’s a great diversity of meals out there in the world that we can make using just the same ingredients.
For instance, these pork rolls that are extremely popular in pubs across the UK basically require only pork chops and tomatoes, so don’t consider it too exquisite and difficult for a simple home dinner.
Here’s what you need: 8 pork chops, 4 tomatoes, 5 garlic cloves, about 20 g of ginger root, 100 ml of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 2 tbsp of sherry, cilantro, saffron, salt, black pepper, fresh herbs.
Lightly pound the meat and marinate it in a mixture of oil, soy sauce, sherry, spices, garlic, and grated ginger; this allows it to tenderize and absorb the flavors. For the filling, chop tomatoes and herbs and mix them with garlic to create a juicy, fresh mixture.
Spread it over the pieces of meat, roll them into tight rolls, and secure the shape. Next, choose a cooking method. They can be fried on the grill instead of being barbecued.
Alternatively, they can be quickly browned in a skillet to develop an appetizing crust, or baked in the oven for a softer, more evenly cooked result.
Regardless of the method, the meat remains juicy on the inside while developing a pleasant, golden-brown crust on the outside.
