DC thought they were being smart by using Superman to market The Flash… In reality, they just doomed themselves to two extra rounds of hot-boiled fan hate.

The Flash has been dancing with the flames of public perception for a long time now. First, as if having the highly controversial Ezra Miller as the lead actor wasn’t enough, the director openly stated that he wouldn’t recast them for future entries. This in itself made quite a large chunk of the audience boycott the movie.

Second, the trailers for The Flash revealed that the movie has clunky and videogame-ish CGI — and the early viewers confirmed that the VFX is very inconsistent at best. This raised questions about the professionalism of the creators.

Third, it was revealed that The Flash had another one of those typical (as of lately) insulting “Henry Cavill cameos” that show the Man of Steel for a split second without the face. As you may have guessed, this absolutely infuriated the actor’s fans, too.

And now, to keep up with the “let’s dump on Cavill’s Superman ” mainstream, DC made yet another genius move: they decided to use the last Man of Steel to promote The Flash. This flawless plan predictably backfired in more than one way, and it’s honestly just poetic at this point.

Obviously, the attempt to promote The Flash (a new movie with an unbelievably controversial lead actor) at the expense of Superman (an older franchise with a non-controversial lead actor who kept getting “d*cked around” as James Gunn put it) provoked a massive backlash from Henry Cavill’s fans. This is nothing new, though.

What’s more curious is that DC managed to piss off its general audience by referencing and using footage of 2017’s Justice League which is pretty hated. The number of people who showed up in the comments to defend 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League and hiss on DC’s “JossiticeLeague“ was hard to predict.

Essentially, there are two types of reactions to this “Superman” post. One is demanding justice for Henry Cavill and condemning DC for using him again, and the other one typically goes like this.

Once again, DC has managed to anger its general fanbase and piss off Henry Cavill’s fans. Honestly, just like Twitter user Adrian Robison said, get a clue already!
