It’s never too late for modern TV hits to completely ruin it all in their very last seasons as Game of Thrones proved back in the day. Some of The Handmaid’s Tale’s fans fear this is what the series might be heading towards if the creators decide to kill Nick Blaine.

Sure, this series is anything but jolly and positive, but viewers deserve at least a partial satisfaction of reuniting June with the man she truly loves”, Redditor nankiw wrote a couple of years ago, though the concern remains relevant since the character might still be killed off in the final season too.

On top of that, some were reassured Nick would most likely die in the sixth season’s latest episode 4 — he didn’t though, but there are more episodes to come and possibly show the plot twist, for a dramatical reason.

“Now that Nick and June have finally acknowledged their feelings for each other, and found some kind of acceptance for their feelings for each other regardless of the fucked up circumstances that instigated those feelings, I’m predicting that Nick is soooo dead”, Ok-Function2283 shared in another thread.

With whatever dramatic purposes The Handmaid’s Tale’s creators might be up to, some fans remain on the logical side of the whole matter, not seeing any sense in Nick’s death after all.

“Nick is alive in The Testaments, so I doubt they'll kill him off, or at least they shouldn't, if they don't want to jump the shark on TT. Finding out June, Nick, Nichole, Hannah and Luke are all together decades into the future is one of the best parts of the book imo”, Redditor Strange_Swimming_800 suggested.

Others agreed, saying that Nick is way more important to the whole story and “plays too big of a part pushing the story forward”.

The Handmaid’s Tale’s season 6 episode 5 will be dropped on Hulu on April 22. The remaining episodes will be released every Tuesday until May 27.
